POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Ethel Powell Covington, 84, of Pocomoke City, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Snow Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Snow Hill, MD. Born June 30, 1928 in Snow Hill, she was a daughter of the late Elijah A. and Lena Pusey Powell. Her husband, James Leon Covington, Sr. preceded her in death in 2000. She was a graduate of Snow Hill H.S. and attended the Church of God in Pocomoke prior to her declining health.
She is survived by one son, James Leon Covington, Jr. and his wife Gail of Pocomoke City; one daughter, Elaine Covington McCloy and her husband Bruce of Williamstown, NJ, three grandchildren, Jamie Covington and his wife Stephanie of Pocomoke City, Joel Covington and his wife Samantha of Los Angeles, and Kasey Lankford Gentry and her husband Glenn of Chincoteague, three step grandchildren, Eric McCloy and his wife Nanette of Glenside, PA, Karen Masso and her husband Michael of Sudan, Africa and Dawn Fry of Prescott, AZ and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Street and a brother, James Powell. A graveside funeral service will be held, Friday, January 11, at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Cemetery, Old Snow Hill Road, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Worcester County Humane Society, P.O. Box #48, Berlin, MD 21801.
