SEAFORD, Del. -- In this tough economy, sometimes the arts in education get left behind. Which is why having a great teacher can mean all the difference in creating well-rounded students.
We surprised Ms. Stacy Hartman at Seaford Middle School Friday morning. She is WMDT and Accurate Optical's December Teacher Who Makes a Difference. As a band director, she often works long hours, and dedicates her time and resources to her students.
When we asked her what makes a great teacher, she had this to say:
"Just care and show the kids on a daily basis that they're there for them and they want to help them in any way possible. I mean more than just music, I have kids coming up and telling me how their weekends were," Hartman says.
Her students agree, WMDT caught up with Harrison Barnes. He's a student of Hartman's and nominated her for the award.
"She really deserves this award," he says.
If you know a teacher going in the extra mile...nominate them Here.
