SALISBURY, Md. - The Wicomico Public Library reports a huge honor.
They are 1 of just 13 libraries nationwide to receive an additional $15,000 from the American Library Association and Dollar General Foundation, to assist county residents who are learning English and becoming citizens.
We're told the money will be used to buy computers. "We're going to use the money to set up a language lab here in the library, and to hire a part-time staff member who will instruct them on using it, making it more accessible here in the library, we'll set up computers that have microphones so they can practice their speech, and we'll also be available for people who want to learn a second language." Director Andrea Berstler said.
The lab is expected to open by June, at the very latest.
