Road Closures For Governor Markell's Inauguration On Tuesday

DOVER, Del. - The Inauguration Ceremony for Delaware Governor Jack Markell will take place on Tuesday, January 15th at 11:00 AM on the Legislative Mall in Dover. Due to the ceremony, many roads will be closed leading up to the event.

The following is information about those closures from Dover Police Department.

On Friday, January 11, 2013 the following street will be blocked for the Governor's Inauguration Ceremony: Legislative Ave. between William Penn and Duke of York.  

On Monday, January 14, 2013 (No Parking after 0600, 01-15-13) signs will be posted on the following streets:   
" Water St. from State St. to River Rd.  
" Duke of York from Federal St. to River Rd.  
" William Penn from Federal St. to River Rd.  
" Legislative Ave. from Water St. to Loockerman St.  
" Federal St. from Water to Loockerman St.  
" Kerbin St. from Elm Terrace to Water St.   

The following streets will be shut down during the Governor's Inauguration Ceremony (10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.): Water St. will be blocked at State St., North St. will be blocked at State St., Federal St. will be blocked at Loockerman St., Court St will be blocked at River Rd. and Kerbin St. will be blocked at Elm Terrace.   

The following streets will be closed at 6:00a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013:   
" Loockerman St. right turn lane at Legislative Ave. eastbound.  
" Loockerman St. left turn lane at Legislative Ave westbound.
 " Duke of York at Legislative Ave. traffic will be diverted northbound on Legislative Ave.  
" Federal St. at North St. traffic will be diverted northbound on Federal St.  
" Legislative Ave. at Water St.  
" Both entrances to the Tatnall Building parking lot.  
" Both entrances to the Townsend Building.  
" Entrances to the Visitor's Center Biggs Museum on Federal St. side.  
" Parking Lot of Del-One Bank (north side).  
" Both entrances to the parking lot of the Hazlet and Jesse Cooper Buildings.  
" Both entrances to the Archives Building.    

There will be a free park and ride shuttle bus service at the Blue Hen Corporate Center on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. The two shuttle busses will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes from the Blue Hen Corporate Center to the Legislative Mall area. Due to the demand on parking in the Legislative Mall area, we are asking that State employees and spectators for the inauguration utilize this free service.
