Pedestrian Stuck In Smyrna Gets Cited For Being Drunk

SMYRNA, Del. - A man has been charged, after he reportedly wandered onto a roadway, drunk. Delaware State Police say that around 8:15 PM, on Sunday, a woman was driving her mini van Westbound on Woodland Beach Road, near Delaware Avenue.

They say that George Prentice, 48, of New Castle, walked onto the road from the phargmites. This reportedly cause the woman to swerve, but still hit Prentice. The woman pulled over an called 911.

Prentice was taken to Kent General Hospital, where he was admitted for his injuries. Police cited him for being drunk on the highway. The woman and her two sons were all wearing seat belts, and were not injured.

Woodland Beach Road was closed for about an hour while the police investigated and cleared the scene.
