UPDATE: Chicken Truck Crash Still Being Investigated

Posted: Updated:

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - A Monday morning crash involving a pick-up truck and a chicken truck, remains under investigation in Bridgeville.

According to Delaware State Police, 64-year-old Milton resident, Clarence Fisher Jr., was driving his pick-up truck on Oak Road coming up to Redden Road, when he apparently didn't stop at the stop sign, and hit the side of a Mountaire Farms semi-tractor trailer in the intersection.

The semi, which was full of live chickens, then reportedly swerved, which caused it to overturn onto the road. Police say that the pick-up truck spun into an electrical pole, before finally stopping on the grass.

Fisher, who was wearing a seat belt, had to be flown to Christiana Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition. His 45-year-old passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injures at PRMC, and was later released. The driver of the semi, was wearing his seat belt, and didn't need medical attention.

The crash is still under investigation, but Troopers say that alcohol don't appear to be a factor. Redden Road between Deer Forest Road and Chaplains Chapel Road was shut down for around five and a half hours, while officials investigated and cleared the scene.
