Delaware State Police Realigns Patrol Area

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police are realigning troop boundaries in Kent County in order to better utilize the law enforcement agency's manpower.

Authorities say the realignment that takes effect Monday involves Troop 9, based in the New Castle County town of Odessa, and Troop 3, based in Woodside.

Traditionally, Troop 3 has provided patrol services for all of Kent County.

The new plan calls for Troop 9 to now handle calls in northern Kent County, essentially from the New Castle/Kent County line south to Denney's Road.

Troop 3 will be responsible for the remainder of Kent County.

Official say the realignment should be seamless for the public, and that public safety will not be compromised.
