Del. Officials Discuss Troubled Charter School

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - State education officials are meeting with representatives from a troubled charter school in New Castle County to discuss a path forward.

Members of the state Charter School Accountability were to meet Friday with representatives of Pencader Business & Finance Charter High School to discuss the school's formal review.

The panel also will consider what, if any, action to take, including drafting of a final report on the formal review.

The New Castle charter school was put on formal review last year because of concerns about its governance and administration, student performance and other issues. Officials also cited concerns about declining enrollment at Pencader, which opened in 2005.

The state Board of Education put Pencader under review in 2011 because of financial concerns.
