Police Make Drug Arrest In Dover Hotel Room

DOVER, Del. - A man is accused of running from police and tampering with evidence, while being arrested on drug charges in a Dover hotel room.

A joint investigation with both Dover and Delaware State Police lead to the arrest of Augustine Butcher, 36, at the Comfort Inn and Suites on Leipsic Road. He was wanted on outstanding warrants from Smyrna Police, and numerous bench warrants from court.

Police say that when they tried to talk to Butcher, he ran from officers, and tried to flush drugs down the toilet. A search apparently revealed 23 bags of Heroin, more than 6 grams of Crack Cocaine, 23 Hydrocodone Pills and $644.00 of suspected drug money.

Butcher was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute Hydrocodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and tampering with physical evidence.
