Single Vehicle Crash Sends 4 To Hospital, Alcohol Possible Factor

Posted: Updated:

CAMDEN, Del. - Police think that alcohol could be involved in a crash that sent four people to the hospital in Camden.

According to Delaware State Police, around 2:05 AM, on Tuesday morning, Matthew Givens, 21, of Milford, was driving his Dodge Nitro on US 13 with three passengers. When he reportedly drove off the road and hit the Worship Lane street sign, just south of Lochmeath Way.

After hitting the sign, an investigation shows that the Nitro hit a curb, causing it to go airborne, where it flipped end over end, finally stopping when it hit a tree, and landing on its roof.

Givens and the three passengers were all taken to Kent General Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Route 13 Southbound was closed for two hours while the police investigated and cleared the scene.

Officials believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash, and they say charges are pending.
