PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Just hours from 2013 and if you still don't have plans and would rather not watch the big ball drop the town of Princess Anne will ring in the new year once again with "Marshall P. Muskrat."
The stuffed animal will be raised above Somerset Avenue and lowered into the crowd.
This is only the second year for this event and already it's been named one of TripAdvisor's top 10 unique New Year's Eve celebrations.
"We were pleasantly surprised," said Jeanne du Nord, Team Muskrat committee member and author of Marshall Muskrat and the Chesapeake Pirates. "We had not only a wonderful turnout but we had a wonderful response from all over the country and my joke about this whole thing was this thing is just goofy enough it might work and working it is."
The event starts at 8 p.m. in downtown Princess Anne.
