MARYLAND -- Same sex couples in Maryland are getting ready to tie the knot this new year.
The new law takes effect after midnight Tuesday allowing same sex couples to wed.
In Maryland they have been able to get marriage licenses since December 8th, However, they do not take effect until Tuesday, Jan. 1st.
On Tilghman Island in the Chesapeake Bay, six couples plan to get married at the Black Walnut Point Inn Tuesday afternoon. Owners and same-sex couple Bob Zuber and Tracy Stables will be marrying as well. Stables says the island community has been highly supportive.
