SALISBURY, Md. -- A two alarm fire leaves a woman and her four children
displaced in Salisbury tonight.
Her home on Vine Street went up in
flames at 11:40 p.m. Fire fighters
responded to the scene, quickly calling it a two-alarm fire and requested back
up from several other departments, including Delmar and Fruitland. In total 60 fire fighters were on site, and
it took 15 minutes to get the blaze under control.
Initial reports said the children
were trapped inside, but they were later found safe at another location.
Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Records
called it a challenging fire, comparing the conditions to a similar house fire
in 2001 on Winder Street, where three children died.
"The tactics we used here were very
familiar," said Records. "Thank goodness it had a good outcome."
But for the mother, a painful
challenge lies ahead.
"I'm
out here by myself, and I have to start over with everything I own."
