2012 Governor's Challenge Score Update

WMDT 47 NEWS - The annual Governor's Challenge High School Basketball Tournament kicked off this week in Wicomico County.

37 high school teams from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania are going head to head at the Civic Center through Saturday. 26 of the participating teams will fight for the Maryland vs Delaware cup.

These are the latest scores:

Game 9: Delmarva Christian defeated Snow Hill 41-38

Game 10: Sussex Central defeated Colonel Richardson 75-35

Game 11: Mervo defeated Parkside 65-47

Game 12: Ben Franklin defeated Queen Anne 50-27

Game 13: Edmondson defeated JH Blake 71-42

Game 14: Baltimore Polytech defeated Westminster 58-45

Game 15: JM Bennett defeated Seaford 64-60

Game 16: Wicomico defeated Franklin Regional (PA) 87-64

 

The winner of the The Dr. Pepper 3-Point Championship was Kevin Heine of Oakdale High School

The winner of the The Dr. Pepper Slam Dunk Champion was Kory Holden of JM Bennett High School

In the MD vs DE cup overall standings are tied 4-4.

    LAUREL, Del. - A house went up in flames Saturday morning, just off of Rt 13 in Laurel. Luckily...it was just a training exercise.A rep from the Laurel fire department told 47 ABC, the landowners called the department to help them get rid of the house, which was far beyond repair. It wasn't a hassle for the firefighters, in fact, they say it was a pretty good training opportunity."It does help us to learn how to fight the fire...what to do, how to shut the roadways down," says Douglas Butler ...More >>
