POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Olga Baylis Jones, 95, of Pocomoke and formerly of Greenbackville, VA, passed away at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke on Sunday Dec. 23, 2012. Born on March 10, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Vernon Brooks Baylis, Sr. and the late Bessie Disharoon Baylis. Her husband, Estle Jones, Jr., preceded her in death in 1977. Prior to her illness, Mrs. Jones had been a very active member of Union United Methodist Church in Greenbackville, serving in the choir, Sunday School, Women's Mission groups and anywhere she was needed. She had been a past President and Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Accomack/Northampton Volunteer Fire Company Association, past Treasurer of the Greenbackville Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one brother, Vernon B. Baylis, Jr. and his wife Alma of Pocomoke City; one sister, Jean Brown of Wilmington, DE; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Elizabeth "Boots" Hammond, Eunice Foulks and Florence Groton.
A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Derek Tomek, will be held Thursday, December 27 at 2 PM in the Union United Methodist Church, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Union Methodist Cemetery on State Line Road just outside of Greenbackville.
