SALISBURY, Md. - As shoppers crowded malls across the states over the weekend, local shoppers took to the mall hours before Christmas.
Those that waited packed the Centre at Salisbury all day trying to find gifts. WMDT spoke with mall officials, who tell us that worries of the fiscal cliff and recent tragedies with Hurricane Sandy and the Connecticut shooting hasn't slowed down foot traffic, especially for one group.
"We also have a lot of men who are shopping because some of them didn't start their shopping until this morning," said Alane Emerson, Centre at Salisbury senior marketing manager. "So, they're buying gift cards, which is a perfect last minute gift."
The International Council of Shopping Centers and the National Retail Federation have predicted a sales hike of three to four percent across the nation.
The Centre at Salisbury will be closed Christmas Day, but will re-open on Wednesday.
