CAMBRIDGE, Md. - It's Wednesday, that means we continue our "Made in America" Christmas challenge. We've joined ABC News to encourage you to shop for presents made in the U.S.
Christmas is less than a week away, and time is running out to stuff those stockings full of American Made gifts, so WMDT did some of the hard work for you. We dropped in on the Sunnyside Shop in Cambridge: a store dedicated to selling fair trade and locally made merchandise.
"It's made to last, it's not a one season throw away item. I personally shop that way anyhow. I figure if I spend a little more and get exactly what I want, I'm going to have it for years," said owner, Heidi Griebel.
Sunnyside has a plethora of items made right here in the U.S.: iPad sleeves, handbags and wallets, clothes and jewelry.
"It's called 'Be You'. It's a company based in Barnegat Light, New Jersey. They lost their entire studio during Sandy," said Griebel.
Sunnyside also has a great selection of Delmarva made pieces, from soaps to cutting boards, and much more.
"A young woman who actually teaches here in Dorchester County; these are fingerless gloves which have been very popular for the last few years," said Griebel.
Heidi says all these items can be great holiday gifts. The best part, experts say the purchase helps keep our friends, family and neighbors employed.
Remember, experts believe just $64 spent on products made in America can create 200,000 jobs.
