SALISBURY, Md. - A family coping with a parent's illness gets an early Christmas present. The Messick family won the "Delmarva's Neediest Roof" competition. The Spicer Brothers company has been hard at work, making repairs for the last week. Tuesday, their brand new roof was unveiled! The Messick family built the home over 30 years ago and tell WMDT they had big plans to fix it up.
"The whole house is like, we're all feel rejuvenated, we're ready to keep fixing things. Everything revolves around this roof being fixed; everything," says homeowner Janet Messick.
Work on their home had to come to a halt 2 years ago, when Lee Messick was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer; which is why the help of the community and the Spicer Brothers couldn't have come at a better time. Spicer Brother reps tell us they look forward to being able to do the neediest roof project again next year.
