SUSSEX, CO., Del. - Delaware congressional leaders will help highlight a dredging project.
Work actually began last week, when crews installed two temporary pipes beneath Woodland Road in Seaford, which connects the river to a dredge disposal site. This is just a part of a $1.8 million U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, which will restore the channel to a depth of 12-feet, ensuring safe passage for barges.
The last time this portion of the river was dredged was over 20 years ago.
Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, along with Congressmen John Carney will have more details on the project tomorrow in Blades.
