EASTON, Md. - Maryland State Police are reporting that multiple elderly residents in Talbot County have been victims of a recent "lottery scam."
Officials say two victims were reportedly contacted and told they won the MGM Mega Millions Lottery from Las Vegas, but were told to send money through a Green DOT MoneyPak cards before collecting their winnings.
Officials say this isn't the first of these cases and there have been reports of a scam involving a winning check from Publisher's Clearing House.
Officials advise residents to be cautious for these scams and document any suspicious activity and not to give any personal information over the telephone.
