Delaware Council Votes To Rename Streets After King

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - The Dover Council has voted to rename streets surrounding Legislative Hall and Legislative Mall after Martin Luther King Jr.

The council approved the measure Monday night. The streets will be named on Jan. 21, the day King's birthday is celebrated.

A section of Court Street that approaches Legislative Hall from U.S. 13 and the two one-way street segments that bound Legislative Mall to the north and south will become Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The addresses of three state-owned buildings will change. Installation of new signs is expected to cost about $5,400.
