City Of Seaford's Holiday Decorating Contest Just Days Away

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - If you typically go crazy with holiday decorations and you live in Seaford, your hard work could pay off.

Any resident who's house is decked out is eligible to win the city's Decorating Contest. The mayor and city council members will tour the city starting this Friday through next Monday. They will choose three lucky winners.

So, what exactly are they looking for? "For me, it's originality. How much effort they put into it to make it look nice. I don't like it to be - you know, I think sometimes people over do it. So, I look for a nice, neat appearance, good use of lights, and if there's a theme, good use of the theme," Mayor William Bennett said.

First place will be awarded $100, second place will get $75 and third place will get $50. Awards will be presented at the council meeting on January 8, 2013.
