Delaware Man Dies Awaiting Trial On Child Porn Charges

DOVER, Del. - The former director of a nonprofit group that runs a children's camp in Lewes has died while awaiting trial on federal child pornography charges.
    
Federal prosecutors revealed Monday in court documents seeking dismissal of the case against Harold Love Springer III that Springer died Aug. 31. They provided no details.
    
The 74-year-old Springer died two weeks after his attorney asked for more time to file pretrial motions.
    
Springer, a former executive director of the Children's Beach House, was indicted last year on charges of transportation, receipt and possession of child pornography.
    
Authorities said Springer was identified during an investigation into a computer network devoted to trading images of child pornography, and that an undercover agent observed some 2,000 files depicting child pornography that Springer had made available to network members.
