WMDT 47 NEWS -- According to the Food Bank of Delaware, 21 percent of those in the First State had to chose between food and paying their rent or mortgage.
Which is why Chesapeake Utilities is stepping in to combat hunger in Delaware.
They are launching their first Chesapeake Cares Holiday Program, by partnering with the Food Bank of Delaware.
Employees will be donating food and gifts to assemble 600 holiday care packages.
Those packages will be distributed to those in need December 17th and 18th in Dover and Georgetown
