SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury Mayor Jim Ireton is not giving up the fight to see redevelopment take over the downtown area. He announced today that the city has issued requests for proposals, for the downtown parking lots and Fire Station 16.
In September of last year, Coastal Venture Properties, put a bid on the old fire station. However, when they asked for an extension to adjust their plan, the council turned them down.
Mayor Ireton says he's also hoping someone will transform the parking lots near the riverfront, into a mixed-use urban center. Developers have until mid-March to submit proposals.
