Becky meant the world to the children and the parents whose lives she touched. She provided that special type of encouragement that each student feels is tailored to him/her alone. Each child felt a special bond because Becky reached out to them as individuals. She also mentored teachers for over twenty years. She served on the board of the Eastern Shore Institute to the Advancement of Thinking and wrote numerous articles for their periodicals. The impetuous was always on "learning by doing". For AIMS Becky served as a Ford Fellow and lent her philosophy of learning to teachers in independent schools throughout Maryland. She was a long time member of the Eastern Shore Reading Council and served as an example for all teachers with her calm and professional demeanor.
Rebecca leaves a legacy of love of family, grace, courage, loyalty, friendship and kindness. She was courageous throughout her life and sought ways to face challenges realistically, strengthen relationships and smooth the road for those she loved. A lifelong learner and teacher Becky will continue to teach us. As a wife, mother, grandmother and friend Becky will forever be cherished as our Guiding Light.
