Del. Gov. Heading To DC For Fiscal Cliff Meeting

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware Gov. Jack Markell says he is heading to Washington this week to discuss the impact the fiscal cliff could have on the state.

Markell says he will be at the White House on Tuesday morning for a meeting with the president and members of the Executive Committee of the National Governors Association. The governor says the meeting will cover the possible impact on states and potential solutions.

The fiscal cliff is the name being used to describe the combination of expiring tax cuts and looming spending cuts for defense and domestic programs. Lawmakers say the measures aimed at cutting the federal deficit would sharply raise taxes for many as well as costing jobs.
