FENWICK ISLAND, Del. - In November, residents of the Eastern Shore rallied together through social media to donate to victims in Crisfield from Superstorm Sandy.
Now, some volunteers of that group, "Sandy Clean-Up Help Across Delmarva" are in the holiday spirit and are donating brand-new, unwrapped toys to families in Crisfield. Brandywine Assisted Living and Uncle Sugar's Moving Company are teaming up for Christmas in Crisfeld.
"This could have easily been Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island [or] Ocean City," said Kathy Jacobs, director of community relations for Brandywine Senior Living. "Yes, we've had our damages, but we didn't have the loss that Crisfield had."
Richard Kee, owner of Uncle Sugar's Moving Co. said that "with all the damages that happened from the storm, with being able to get these gifts out there to the kids, it's definitely more important than a work day for us."
All toys were brought over to Maple Shade in Mardela Springs. The next step: parents will come and pick out toys for their kids, wrap them and give them out on Christmas.
