End of Allegiant

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - A local airline is taking off from Salisbury -- permanently.

After only 9 months, Allegiant Airlines announced on Friday it will end service from Wicomico Regional Airport.

"We are always disappointed to end service in a market," said Eric Fletcher, Allegiant Travel Co. Manager of Airports. "We thank Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport for their partnership and apologize to any travelers who are inconvenienced by this decision."

It's last day of service is January 5, a little more than a month away.

Customers with reservations after that date will be contacted by Allegiant directly for a full refund.
