Bringing Holiday CHEER To Meals On Wheels Program

Posted: Updated:

GEORGETOWN, Del. - It's time to Deck the Halls With CHEER and decorate your home in style.

The organization is known for their Meals on Wheels program, which handles 130,000 food deliveries in Sussex county. On Friday night, they hosted a fundraising event that brings in a huge chunk of change to keep that program going. There was a silent auction, dinner, and live entertainment. Beautifully decorated wreaths and trees were also available for purchase.

"The volunteers decorate the trees and we go out and sell the trees to various businesses in the county. Those businesses can either take the tree and donate them to a nursing home, or veterans home, or anyone they would like to. Or, they donate the tree back to us," said Randy Nelson, Marketing Director for CHEER.

The event was held at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown from 6 to 9 p.m. All the money raised goes towards Meals On Wheels.
