Sentence Handed Down For Convicted Murderer In Wico. Co.

SALISBURY, Md. - A Wicomico County murderer has learned his fate Friday and will never see the outside of a prison cell again. Randy Clayton was sentenced to life without parole.

Back in September, a jury found him guilty of first degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Euric George. Prosecutors say Clayton executed George over an argument he was having with George's girlfriend.

Clayton chased him through the Chestnut Manor Apartments and emptied his clip while George was already on the ground. Clayton was called a heartless killer in court Thursday and even tried to walk out before the judge finished reading his sentence.

Safe Streets Prosecutor, Richard Brueckner says, "You hear the words life without parole and then you realize that you're going to be spending the rest of your living days in a jail cell as the result of something you did in 30 seconds its almost enough to make a defendant's knees buckle like you saw in court today."

In court, George's parents read heartfelt letters to Clayton. Clayton did apologize and said he had been drinking, was angry and made a huge mistake, one he'll have to live with forever.
