World AIDS Day: Remembering Those Fighting With Disease

Posted: Updated:

WMDT 47 NEWS - This Saturday is World AIDS Day.  It's a time to remember those fighting for their life and those who lost the fight.

In DC, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton unveiled a new blueprint to help in the global fight against the disease and the virus that causes it.  The plan will also serve as a roadmap for creating an AIDS-free generation.

"As these children become adults, they are at a far lower risk of becoming infected than they are today," said Hillary Clinton. "If they do acquire HIV, they have access to treatment."

Governor Jack Markell and other Delaware representatives will commemorate World Aids Day in Wilmington Friday morning.  Medical experts also say the day serves as a reminder to get tested for HIV, which you can do for free at many places here on the Shore.
