Delaware Animal Welfare Task Force Meets

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A statewide group charged with trying to determine how to coordinate animal control efforts in Delaware is seeking public input.

The Animal Welfare Task Force is meeting Thursday evening at Legislative Hall in Dover to accept public testimony.

Lawmakers passed a resolution in June setting up the task force, which is tasked with studying ways to coordinate animal welfare efforts and review animal cruelty laws.

Issues up for discussion include oversight of animal control officers, dog licensing practices, and the state's spay-neuter program.

The group is supposed to issue its report and recommendations to the governor and lawmakers by March 30.
