Who Is Myles Lyons, And What Made Him Snap?

Posted: Updated:

SALISBURY, Md. - We're now learning more details about that triple shooting that happened Tuesday morning on Jersey road in Salisbury. WMDT is also getting some insight into Myles Lyons and what kind of person he was, before all this.

It's the tragedy that's shocked many on Delmarva, that domestic dispute that turned so violent, it ended in the death of a beloved mother of three and the shooting of two younger women, one of them pregnant.

"It's horrific, it's something you never get used to," said Sheriff Mike Lewis, during an interview Wednesday at the Wicomico County Sheriff's office.

When news broke that the suspect, Myles Lyons was captured, WMDT got over 100 comments on its Facebook page. Many were outraged, but more were saddened. Those who know the victims were asking for prayer. Others who knew the suspect, say he was a good kid, wasn't into drugs or involved with gangs.

"He cooperated with investigators as best he could. We believe he was being honest for the most part, as to why he did what he did. However, we can't release that,"said Sheriff Lewis.

Still, many wonder, what made him snap?

We do know Lyons took a bus from Camden, New Jersey to Salisbury, just hours before he allegedly used a kitchen knife and revolver to carry out those grizzly attacks. A crime that police say happened right in front of three children ages 10, 4 and just two months.

"The 10 year-old is a remarkable young man who vividly described in great detail what occurred in the house. We will stand by this family and make sure they get through this and recover from this," said Sheriff Lewis.

During his first hearing, Myles Lyons was ordered to be held behind bars without bond, which is where he will spend his 20th birthday, and where he will remain until his next hearing on December 27th.

We've learned through those close to Lyons, that he reportedly suffered a tragedy of his own. He and his ex-girlfriend lost a child sometime last year.

We're also finding out some good news. Lyons ex-girlfriend, the 17-year-old victim, delivered a healthy baby girl Tuesday night. Still, both women remain hospitalized at PRMC, but are expected to recover.
