Pocomoke City Police Make Big Strides In Fight Against Crime

Posted: Updated:

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Promising numbers to report out of Pocomoke City - The Police Department appears to be making big strides in their fight against crime.

Nearly a year after Chief Kelvin Sewell took office, murders decreased by 200%. Incidents of robbery fell by 50%, and burglaries, 64%. Thefts and larcenies dropped by 87%.

Sewell credits the improvements to increased foot patrols. "All three shifts get out of their cars and walk on foot through the neighborhood. That was once our high crime areas, but no more since officers have been proactive," he said.

Sewell also says the department also holds every officer accountable by what they do on the street each and every day.
