Gift Cards May Not Be What They Seem

WMDT 47 News - Gift cards are a seemingly simple gift to give. However, a new survey of 83 different gift cards shows consumers still need to be aware of what they're buying.  

The researchers found general use gift cards were far more likely to have fees attached. Purchase fees can reach $6.95. And inactivity fees could eat up 3-dollars per month after the first year.

The researchers also found 95 percent of the cards surveyed did not have an expiration date.
