SALISBURY, Md. - Families from across the Shore, including some from Baltimore kicked off the 9 a.m. start time for Pemberton Park's 4th Annual Turkey Trek 5K.
Over 300 runners celebrated before tonight's big meal with a little bit of outdoor exercise through the park's trails. Organizers tell us that around 260 runners came out last year and the event keeps on growing.
"It has become a family event," said Andy Kitzrow, superintendent of recreation of Wicomico Recreation and Parks. "You wouldn't know how many people would come out on a special day, but people come back in town or all families are in town and they just gather together and run before getting together and having some dinner."
Prizes were awarded to top performers from six different categories, including under 14 and over 60. The fastest overall time was just under 20 minutes.
