SALISBURY, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds have donated their time to families in need, and now they're offering money too.
The players were at the warehouse on Monday, helping pack thousands of boxes for Mountaire's Thanksgiving For Thousands. On Friday, they announced a $3,000 donation to their program. Last year, the Shorebirds were able to give about $1,500, but officials say they got a little help this year.
"One of our players Dylan Bundy was able to provide us some of his autographed stuff that we were able to put on our website and auction off. Some fans were able to win those prizes as well as we were able to utilize that money through our community fund with Mountaire for this project as well," said Delmarva Shorebirds' General Manager, Chris Bitters.
Mountaire Farms' program feeds about 45,000 people during the holiday season.
