House Democrats Meet To Pick Leadership

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Democrats who control the state House are meeting to discuss who should lead their caucus in the legislative session starting in January.

Members of the House Democratic Caucus will gather behind closed doors Tuesday evening in Dover to elect their leaders for the upcoming session.

The caucus will select a new speaker, majority leader and majority whip. The speaker then must be elected by the entire House.

The Democratic caucus also will discuss the committee process and submit committee requests for the upcoming session.

Democrats gained one seat in this month's elections and now hold a 27-14 majority in the House.
