Hostess Brands Announces Closings, Selling Off Brands

WMDT 47 NEWS - It looks like the Twinkie will be looking for a new home.

Hostess Brands announced it will end operations and has asked a court for permission to close its business and sell off its iconic brands.  The 82-year old company issued the statement after a week of strikes from the Bakers Union.

Officials also posted several letters on their website, to loyal customers, employees and suppliers.

We asked several residents how they feel about the announcement.

"I feel bad for all the people that are out of work, don't get me wrong, but you keep asking and asking and asking for more and more and more and you're just not grateful that you have a job, this is what happens," said Stuart Uusma of Salisbury.

"A good friend of mine, he actually works for Wonder Bread and now, you know they lose it, where is he going to go?" said Melissa Riley of Hebron.

We reached out to a local Hostess store in Salisbury and they said at this time, they could not comment.
