POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Jesse William "Billy" Mariner, Jr., 65 of Pocomoke City, Maryland died on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Born Thursday, January 9, 1947 in Salisbury, he was a son of the late Jesse William Mariner, Sr. and the late Mary Morgan Mariner. A lifelong resident of Pocomoke, he served in the Maryland Army National Guard and the Army Reserve for six years and was an employee of Kellam Distributors, Sharp Energy and Chesapeake Utilities, until failing health caused his retirement after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Loretta Travers Mariner; two children, David W. Mariner and his wife Amie of Westover and Theresa L. Ross and her husband Alan of Pocomoke; two grandchildren, Eleni Mariner and Glenn Ross III; two sisters, Virginia Sprinkle and her husband Paul of Pocomoke, Gladys "Ginger" Landon of Berlin; two brothers Bobby Mariner and his wife Peggy of Salisbury and James "Jimmy" Mariner and his wife Della of Horntown. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Howe and Aline Wharton and one brother Howard "Buck" Mariner.
A funeral service, officiated by his nephew, Pastor Jimmy Mariner, will be held Saturday, November 17th at 2:00 PM at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Assoc., 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
