Blessings For Bekah Fundraiser - 47 ABC - Delmarva's Choice

Blessings For Bekah Fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

DELMAR, Del - At the opening of Decorating Delmarva, Thursday, WMDT met a young lady from Allen, Maryland who the community is rallying to support. "It's just like overwhelming," 22-year-old Rebekah Fleming tells WMDT, "and I just thank them for wanting to help us."

Chick-Fil-A donated the use of their booth space at the holiday event to help raise money for Rebekah. They're selling wreaths for 25-dollars and ornaments for 7-dollars.

But this is just one of her many fundraisers. Rebekah Fleming suffers from Spina Bifida, and friends and family started "Blessings For Bekah" in July, when her condition took a turn for the worse. Her dad, John, shares his gratitude, "I was just flabbergasted. And you know, I didn't know what to think and they said well we're going to do it anyway, building stuff, and fundraisers."

Friends say they're hoping to raise enough money for the family to buy a wheelchair accessible van and upgrade their house to accommodate her needs. Rebekah's mom, Patricia, explains her daughter's recent hardships, "She used to be able to take care of herself and now she can't do anything, even the basic little things that you take for granted, even scratching your nose. She can't even do that. And feeding herself...it's a lot."
