Bridgeville Man Charged With Raping Granddaughter

MAGNOLIA, Del. - A 55-year-old Bridgeville man is accused of raping his 11-year-old granddaughter. According to Delaware State Police, Benjamin Charleston Jr., was kicked out of a Mabel Drive house in London Village in early November. They say that this is when the victim reported the assaults to a family member.

Police say that the incidents happened over a year, while the victim was staying with relatives at that home. Detectives thoroughly investigated, and arrested Charleston on November 14th.

He was then charged with 18 counts of rape, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child. Charleston is being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $462,500 bond.
