
GEORGETOWN, Del. - A Wednesday afternoon crash, claimed the life of a Millsboro teenager.
According to Delaware State Police, around 3:30 PM, the 16-year-old was driving on Asbury Road in Georgetown, when he came to a curve in the road, but continued straight, driving off the road and into a telephone pole, hitting on the front driver's side. After hitting the pole, the car reportedly spun out, into a densely wooded area.
The teen was pronounced dead at the scene, he was wearing a seat belt. There was also an 18-year-old Georgetown female passenger in the car, who was wearing her seat belt as well. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries, and released from Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.
The crash is still being investigated by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit. Asbury Road was closed for three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
