SALISBURY, Md. - Two local students have received a prestigious recognition.

Abigail Southard of Seaford and Robert Usab of Cambridge, both students at The Salisbury School, have received the honor of being named Commended Students in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Across the nation, only 34,000 students will be recognized.

They will not go on to the 2013 competition for National Merit Scholarships awards, but Commended Students placed among the top 5% of the 1.5 million that entered the competition by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
