SALISBURY, Md. - Elma Loretta Elliott Layton, 85, of Pine Way, Salisbury passed away on Saturday November 10, 2012 at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was the daughter of the late William Herman Elliott, Mary Agnes Dunn Elliott and Gussie Louise Guettner Elliott. She was a seamstress and worked for many years at Manhattan Shirt Factory. After the Shirt Factory, she spent a number of years as a daycare provider, before her retirement, where she was affectionately considered Mom-mom to many children. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.
Elma Layton was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Charles Layton of Salisbury and sons; Donald Wayne Layton, Robert Keith Layton Sr., and Steven Allen Layton. She was also predeceased by sisters, Stella Jane Hastings and Ella Lorraine Beach. Elma Layton is survived by her son William Michael Layton Sr., her brother William Herman Elliott Jr.; grandchildren, Phyllis Spencer, Donald Layton Jr., Tracy Campbell, Lisa Layton, Bobby Layton Jr., Mike Layton Jr., Jason Layton, and Jeremy Layton; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11am at the Holloway Funeral Home with the family receiving friends one hour prior. Interment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Rev. Wayne Parsons will officiate. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Impact Church of Fruitland, 206 Moonglow Rd, Fruitland MD 21826 and or to the Salisbury Fire Department 2 Inc., Volunteer Firemen's Organization, 801 Brown St, Salisbury, MD 21804-3201.
