OCEAN CITY, Md. - Ocean City's Public Works Department will begin conducting the fall hydrant flushing of the water system beginning November 13.
The hydrant flushing, which is done bi-annually, will take place in conjunction with a valve exercise operation. After valves are exercised, the hydrants will be flushed in the same area to remove any debris introduced by the valve testing. The hydrant work wile begin on South 1st Street and covering approximately five blocks per day.
This project is expected to be completed before February 1st. Town officials want to remind residents and businesses that after flushing there may be a slight discoloration of water. This is not harmful and will dissipate after a short time. If you wish to clear your pipes, run cold water for several minutes until the water runs clear.
