Delaware Soybean Harvest Shows Slight Increase

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. - Federal agriculture officials say this year's soybean harvest in Delaware should be slightly higher than last year's, but the corn harvest will be down.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service says the state's soybean harvest should total about 6.9 million bushels, up from about 6.6 million bushels last year. Average yield is expected to increase from 39.5 bushels to 41 bushels per acre.

The revised corn forecast shows a harvest of about 21.2 million bushels this year, down from 23.6 million bushels last year. The estimated average yield of 120 bushels per acre is up five bushels per acre from the October forecast but still down from last year's average yield of 130 bushels per acre.
