Man Arrested For Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend And Her Children

Posted: Updated:

SEAFORD, Del. - A seaford man is behind bars after he reportedly abducted his estranged girlfriend and her two children.

Troopers responded to the 20000 block of Atlanta Road, Seaford Friday morning around 10:52 a.m. after relatives that live next door called 911 to check on a 22 year-old woman and her children.  They say she had not been seen all morning.  When the relatives went to the house to check on her, they discovered the house in disarray and immediately called the police.

When Troopers arrived, they found signs of a struggle which included blood on the floor and appliances as well as holes in the walls and broken chairs.  The victim's cell phone and wallet were located in the house and Troopers were informed by the family members that she would never leave the house without them.

The investigation continued throughout the early afternoon as detectives learned that the victim had been involved in a volatile relationship with Clifford W. David Jr. who is the father of the 8 month old daughter.  Tips through friends of the female victim lead investigators to the Travelers Inn Motel in Milford where Clifford David was reportedly staying.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Delaware State Troopers along with officers from Milford Police Department were able to make contact with the manager of the motel and obtain a key to the room.  Numerous attempts were made to have David exit the room before the key was used to make entry and take Clifford David into custody without incident.  The 22 year-old victim and her two young daughters were located unharmed in the room.  The investigation further revealed that the 22 year-old was physically assaulted prior to being taken against her will from the residence on Atlanta Road.  She did not require any medical attention.

Clifford David was transported back to Troop 5 in Bridgeville where he was arrested for three counts of Kidnapping 1st, Burglary 2nd, Assault 3rd, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief.  He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to SCI on $103,100.00 cash only bail.
