DOVER, Del. - A head on collision on Thursday night, sends one Dover woman to the hospital, and lands one Magnolia man behind bars on his 4th DUI offense. Delaware State Police say that around 7:00 PM, 31-year-old Jason Swafford was driving his Chevrolet pick-up truck on South State Street, when he reportedly crossed the center line and hit 50-year-old Lorri Buchman's Mazda head-on.
Buchman was wearing her seat belt, but was removed from the scene by EMS. She is currently listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital. Swafford was not injured in the crash, and was immediately taken into custody. He is charged with driving under the influence, his 4th offense, 1st degree vehicular assault, and failure to remain in a single lane. He is being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $9,001.00 bond.
South State Street between SR 10 and North Old Mill Road wad closed for around 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The crash is still under investigation.
